Employment & Training Goals with Bedford

Bedford

Bedford is one of Australia’s largest employers of people with disability and a registered NDIS provider. At Bedford, we live by a simple vision: we strive to change the lives of people with disability by building capacity, independence and wellbeing. With strong links to industry, we opened our newest site at Erskine Park in Western Sydney in January this year.

Helping with more than just a job

We specialise in providing supported employment opportunities and essential life skills training to help you reach your personal and professional goals. A packaging or logistics/warehousing job at Bedford will see you work with global food and pharmaceutical brands in a modern, clean and friendly environment at our state-of-the-art Erskine Park facility.

We help you find success at work by fitting work into your routine and providing on-the-job support and training. As well as becoming familiar with your new role, you will learn about health and safety, communication, time management and working with others. We can also offer job readiness training such as personal presentation, interview skills and job searching. These life skills can help you prepare for exploring opportunities outside of supported employment, if that’s one of your goals.

Transitioning from school to work

We know the transition from school to work can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t need to be daunting or difficult. Accessing School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) through Bedford will equip you with the necessary tools and supports over a two-year period to make the switch as smooth as possible. You will receive:

  • A personalised program built around your individual needs
  • Essential workplace health and safety training
  • Resume writing and interview skills training
  • Communication and social skills development
  • A range of work experience opportunities
  • Travel training
  • Social opportunities with people of a similar age

Work experience

Still have a few years left at school but want to get a taste of the working life? We also offer work experience to build your confidence and practical skills for success in the workplace. If you’re planning further studies or a mix of employment and community programs, taking part in work experience while still at school will help you understand what’s expected in a work environment and what employers are looking for when it comes to applying for jobs.
